about us
We endeavor to lead lives of faithfulness and devotion guided by Christ as the divine Son of God and the Bible as the inspired record of God's revelation.
Pleasant View Church of Christ has no headquarters or rule from any outside human source. We are locally self-governing and our own Elders lead in spiritual matters.
Our authority is God’s word, We have no man-made creeds. The scriptures are our only rule of faith and practice. We allow liberty in opinion in matters where scriptural revelation does not legislate. We accept the fullest conformity to the clear and uncontested revelation of the world.
Those who are committed to membership have submitted to the following New Testament standards:
- They have believed in and trusted Jesus Christ for salvation (John 14:6)
- They have acknowledged their commitment to Him (Matthew 16:16, Romans 10:9)
- They have repented of their past sin and rebellion against God and turned to Him (Luke 13:3, Acts 2:38)
- They have been immersed in the name of Christ (Mark 16:26, Romans 6:3-6, Galations 3:27) and have received the remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38, Ephesians 1:13-14)
- They seek to live a life of Christian steadfastness (1 Corinthians 15:58)
Every first day of the week The Lord’s Supper is served (Acts 20:7). Our goal is to be in our time, what Christians in the first century were in faith and service. We are simply a body of believers working to restore the vitality of the Christian life.
What we believe
- That Jesus is the Son of God who became a man to die for the sins of the whole world; He was raised from the dead and ascended back to heaven; He is coming again (1 Corinthians 15:1-8)
- That the Bible is the inspired word of God, and is the only authority for our faith (what we believe) and practice (how we are to live) (2 Timothy 3:16)
- That every person has worth as a creation of God, but that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)
- That forgiveness of sins and the promose of eternal life are available to those who trust Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord (John 3:16)
- That those accepting Christ should repent of sin, confess faith, and be baptized into Him (Romans 10:9, Acts 2:38)
- That the Church exists to provide for spiritual growth of the people and to see that the Gospel is preached to everyone (Ephesians 4:1-16)
- That Jesus Christ will one day return to Earth and reign forever as King of Kings and Lord of Lords (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
